1. Order Confirmation
Once you have accepted our quotation, the process can get underway. Look out for your information pack which will outline all the steps in detail.
2. Architectural Drawings
The next step is a visit by one of our designers who will produce a measured survey and discuss design ideas with you in detail. You will receive a set of drawings for approval which will then be submitted to your local authority for planning permission, where required.
3. Party Wall Notice
If your home is a terraced or semi-detached house, you will require a Party Wall Agreement from your adjoining neighbours under the Party Wall Act 1996. We have many years’ experience in this field and will help you to obtain the necessary paperwork.
4. Final Decisions
Before we start the building work, our designer and project manager will visit the site to confirm finer details such as the positioning of electrical supplies and sanitary installations.
5. Construction Phase
Once all the relevant permissions have been obtained, the build can begin. Scaffolding will go up and building materials will be delivered. To minimise any disruption and inconvenience, all the works will be carried out externally until the staircase is ready to be fitted. We carry out regular quality control checks and liaise with Building Control inspections.
Depending on the size and complexity of your conversion, and any adverse weather conditions, we aim to complete all works in around 6-8 weeks. Upon completion, any scaffolding and equipment will be removed, a final building quality control inspection will take place and your completion documents including our 10-year guarantee will be handed over to you.
